10 Mom-Approved Tips on Making Time for Exercise

Too exhausted for exercise? Use these 10 mom-approved tips to reboot!

The struggle is real! Sticking to a fitness routine is hard for all of us, but for moms, it’s on a whole other level! I mean, when a mom can’t even use the loo undisturbed, how’s she gonna squeeze in a workout? 

Between packed lunches, dropping off the kids at school, laundry and all the other “mom” duties, finding time to exercise might seem overwhelming. If you find yourself struggling to squeeze in exercise, use these 10 mom-approved tips for prioritizing your time (and health). It’s totally possible. We promise! 

#1: Work Out First Thing in the Morning

Get your sweat on before the day gets away from you! If you’re like me and wait until the end of your workday, you’ll soon realize that it’s damn near impossible to get your workout in. Plus, who’s gonna schedule a meeting at 6:00 in the morning? No one! It’s basic—get it done before the kiddos wake up! 

#2: Dance Off Those Extra Pounds

Did you know you can literally burn up to 534 calories by dancing for just 30 minutes? Dancing burns more calories than almost any other form of cardio activity. #3: Exercise During Family TV Time

There’s nothing wrong with being a couch potato from time to time, but don’t make it a consistent habit. During family TV time, make the most of it by exercising. 

Try some of these exercises the next time your favorite family show is on: sit-ups, push-ups, air squats, planks and lunges. You can even make a circuit out of it. Shoot for 3 to 5 rounds of each exercise for 10-20 depending on your fitness level. 

#4: Combine Errands and Exercise

Make the most of your errands by fitting in exercise. Bike to the grocery store with your child in tow or jog to Trader Joe’s while pushing the stroller. If you must drive, park further away to get in some extra steps. And when your bestie invites you out for lunch, opt for a workout date instead. #5: Plan Out How You’ll Sweat

Plan out your workout week in advance. Take it one step further and think about what you’ll actually do once you get there. After all, it’s hard enough to find the motivation to work out. It’s even harder to find the motivation to figure out what to do.

#8: Take Advantage of Nap Time
